Oppenheimer wins Best Picture and six other categories in Oscar this year:
Oppenheimer achieved a remarkable feat at the 96th Academy Awards, securing victory in seven out of the 13 categories it was nominated for. It claimed prestigious accolades such as Best Picture and Best Director, attributed to Christopher Nolan. Additionally, Cillian Murphy’s performance earned him the Best Actor award, while Robert Downey Jr. was honored with Best Supporting Actor. The film also clinched awards for Best Original Score and various technical achievements. However, amidst the celebration, there was disappointment for Lily Gladstone from “Killers Of The Flower Moon,” as she narrowly missed the opportunity to become the first indigenous Best Actress in Oscar history. Instead, the coveted title went to Emma Stone for “Poor Things,” a film that also secured three other Oscars. Notably, Da’Vine Joy Randolph achieved a remarkable feat by winning Best Supporting Actress for “The Holdovers,” completing her triumphant run throughout this awards season.

“Anatomy Of A Fall” and “American Fiction” emerged victorious in the categories of Best Original and Best Adapted Screenplay, respectively. The talented duo Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell earned the prestigious award for Best Original Song with “What Was I Made For?” from the film “Barbie,” marking the sole triumph for the movie out of its eight Oscar nominations.
The Oscar nominations this year generated buzz due to three prominent exclusions – notable figures Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, both director and lead star of “Barbie,” and Leonardo DiCaprio from “Killers Of The Flower Moon,” were snubbed.
The hosting duties for the Oscars were once again taken on by Jimmy Kimmel, marking his fourth time in the role. Memorable moments from the ceremony included a comically near-naked John Cena presenting the Oscar for Best Costume Design, Ryan Gosling’s entertaining rendition of “I’m Just Ken” with support from his “Barbie” co-stars and rock legend Slash, and Robert Downey Jr.’s humorous acceptance speech, where he amusingly referred to his wife Susan Levin as his “veterinarian.”
