Stunning pictures of “Super Blood Moon”

People share thousands of pictures of “Super Blood Moon” on Twitter:

Twitter is loaded with pictures and videos of the Super Blood Moon and the Lunar Eclipse that were visible in various countries. The list of countries that saw the eclipse includes the Western United States, Canada, Mexico, most of Central America and Ecuador, Western Peru, Southern Chile, and Argentina. It was also witnessed in eastern Australia and New Zealand and was the first lunar eclipse in two years, which took place when the Moon was closest to Earth.

As per NASA, a lunar eclipse occurs when the sun and moon align on opposite sides of the Earth. “Our atmosphere filters the light as it passes, softening the edge of our planet’s shadow and giving the Moon a deep, rosy glow,” explains NASA. During this period, the Moon is at perigee, the closest point to the Earth in its orbit, which makes it appear especially “large and bright.”
