Gold and beige are the current hottest colours for ethnic wear and many Bollywood celebs have also been seen wearing them. Gold and beige look classy and pretty. They suit all Indian skin tones from fair to dusky, in fact they look classier on our tanned complexions!

Here is how to select and rock beige or nude ethnic wear:

Selecting the colour: Selecting the right gold or nude shade is very important. Too light and you will look washed out, too brown and you will end up wearing a shade of brown. If you are fair (MAC NC 35 and below) always prefer a beige darker than your skin colour to make your skin look radiant and avoid a washed out look. For dusky tones, pick a shade lighter to make your skin shade pop against the beige.

When picking gold be sure it’s not over the top shiny prefer dull, matte or rose gold version for heavy clothes. A little bit of blingy gold is alright but looking like a disco ball is not.

The right accessories: Accessories play a main role when you wear a golds or nudes, anything harsh (like black heels or clutch) looks weird and matching will make you look like and ornament. Here’s how to pick the right ones:

  • Be subtle: If you are wearing a gold dress, the safest bet is nude pumps. Similarly with beige, gold accessories are a hit.
  • Colour block: If your dress has another colur like wine, pink, green, match your clutch to that colour.

Perfect makeup: Makeup can make you look radiant or sick when wearing shades of beige. Make sure you put on a radiant base with smokey eyes and a striking lip colour.  Lips need special attention put a bold lip shade like maroon, red or hot pink to make the whole look perfect. Also match your nail paint to your lip shade for that pop of colour.

Hair it: Make sure your hair are perfect and preferably in an updo which highlights the gold dress. Not comfortable with updos? Try a side fish plait or side pony with curls to look sophisticated and sleek.

Jewellery: Depending on the heaviness of your outfit, pick jewelry very wisely. Pick solitaire studs if your gold dress is heavily embellished. For beige dresses pick an antique look meena necklace or chandelier earrings.
